Dodging Bricks and Catching Blessings

Dodging Bricks and Catching Blessings

In a conversation last week with a friend I shared with her the difference between living and having life happen. Living is when you proactively enforce your influence on life and having life happen is when you are left with nothing but the ability to react to life’s whims. Obviously I prefer one over the other.

The Life of a Party. I hate postponing events. It throws off weeks and months of planning and not to mention processing refunds and trying to find dates to reschedule. Ticket sales are a fickle metric but going into the original date we were looking good, then life started happening to us with a forecast of snow and then we did not look so good. Worst of all, I could see in the 10-day forecast that the next Friday was going to be a rare high 60’s day (it’d actually be 80) and boom, a seedling of a thought was born.

Honestly, we were still thinking to just do the date, hoping that the weather would hold out but we still decided to float the idea with Howard Theatre about a make-up date. Coincidentally, another event had to move from the Friday date and we were able to move; we dodged a brick and gave ourselves a shot at a blessing.

We updated our DJ roster, went in for another week of marketing and ended up having a great weekend that was amazing. We had my good friends Groovy Gene, DJ Shindig and DJ Biggs spinning and they didn’t disappoint with the crowd singing and dancing until the lights came on. Per usual we had @3strikesphotos on the photos and per usual, Danelle went crazy on the pics, click here to see them all.

PS. A huge shout out to the Howard Theatre staff in front of and behind the scenes, they’ve been rockstars to us over the years and this was another example of that with their flexibility.
